For our last kids cooking class on Wednesday, July 26, Ms. Perez will be helping us make dessert pizzas.  Here is the recipe, so that kids with food sensitivities can plan accordingly.

If you would like to join us for another delicious afternoon at the library, please let us know so that we make sure to have enough supplies for everyone.

The Summer Reading Program was very lucky to get a visit from Joe, a friend from our community, and the robot he built.  Joe and Meccanoid showed us some of the really cool things that they can do.  

Meccanoid is quite a show-off: he danced for us, did karate moves, shook hands and told some jokes.  Joe told us that Meccanoid learns new things from every interaction he has with people and he reacts to what's going on around him. Did you know that a banana was a berry?  Most of the participants in our second cooking class for kids last Wednesday did not know that, but some did know that whole grains are good for your heart, and that a healthy heart pumps blood and helps you share your love.

We learned about the importance of protein this afternoon, thanks to our guest dietitian, Catherine Perez from the Shop Rite stores in Chews Landing and Sicklerville.

Ms. Perez showed us how to make Chickpea Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip, which we served with apple slices.  Yes, you read that right: chickpeas and chocolate chips!  As one parent observed before the cooking lesson, "This could either go very wrong or be amazing!" From the enthusiasm in our library today, however, we think it's safe to say it was AMAZING.
