The following poets will be featured:
Author of the poetry collection, City of Pearls, Sham-e-Ali Nayeem is an Indian Muslim American poet, artist and public interest lawyer of Hyderabadi descent. Her poetry has appeared in Apiary, Dusie and Mizna, and can be found in anthologies, including Living Islam Out Loud: American Muslim Women Speak, and Shout Out: Women of Color Respond to Violence. Sham-e-Ali is the recipient of the Loft Literary Center Spoken Word Immersion Fellowship.
Elaine Terranova has published seven collections of poetry, most recently, Perdido, from Grid
Books. Dollhouse, an earlier book, was winner of the Off the Grid Press 2013 Poetry Award. She received the 1990 Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets for her first book, The Cult of the Right Hand. Her poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, and other magazines, and in anthologies. Her translation of Euripides’ Iphigenia at Aulis was published in the Penn Greek Drama Series. Her awards include a Pushcart Prize, a Pew Fellowship in the Arts, and an NEA Fellowship in Literature.
Eleanor Wilner is the 2019 Frost Medal recipient of the Poetry Society of America for lifetime achievement; she is the
author of nine books of poetry, most recently Before Our Eyes; New and Selected Poems, 1975-2017
(Princeton U. Press), Tourist in Hell (U. of Chicago Press), The Girl with Bees in Her Hair (Copper
Canyon), and due out in May, Gone to Earth: Early and Uncollected Poems, 1963-1975 (Crooked Hearts,
an imprint of Red Hen Press). Her many awards include Fellowships from the MacArthur Foundation and
the NEA; the Juniper Prize, and three Pushcart Prizes. She has taught for many years in the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.
